Shri Rajiv Gandhi was responsible for some of the major breakthroughs that India has witnessed. He sowed the seeds of liberalisation of the economy. It was his govt. that strengthened the Panchayati Raj Institutions to decentralise power and empower leaders from the grassroots.
A true visionary, he spearheaded the IT and telecom revolution in India. Shri Rajiv Gandhi also pioneered the national education policy to expand higher education programs across the country. To harness the power of youth in nation building, he lowered the voting age from 21 to 18 years.
India under Rajiv Gandhi saw rapid technological advancements, socio-economic reforms, resource-based agricultural growth making India an emerging power.
He remains the youngest prime minister of India and a leader who left an indelible mark on hearts and minds of millions of Indians.
